Check it out! The Young Adult
space on the lower level of the library is full of materials just for teens. We have an extensive fiction selection including graphic novels and Manga. You can also find nonfiction materials, audiobooks, playaways, Video Games (Wii, Playstation 2 &
3, and X-Box 360), CDs and DVDs. We do our best to buy the “latest and
greatest,” but in case there’s something we missed, let us know! We love input, advice and suggestions from teens.
Be Connected. There are six laptop computers equipped with Microsoft Office Suite
(2010), CD and DVD rewrite capability and filtered Internet access.
To use the library's Internet computers, young adults from the ages of 12 to 17 must have
an OCLN Young Adult library card in good standing. Teens can also access the library's wireless Internet on their own laptop computers.
The computers are reserved for teen use only (ages 12-17) from 2pm
until closing and all day Saturday.
Need Help? The area's location next to the Reference and Non-fiction areas of the library makes it easy for teens to find the information they need for homework and school projects. A Reference Librarian is available to assist with research. If
you're looking for reading suggestions, or want to see what we're
reading, be sure to check out our Teen
blog.
FYI The room is furnished with tables for group work and comfortable seating for reading or relaxing.
Get Involved! Thayer Public Library programs for teens include the monthly meeting of the Anime/Manga Club (for ages 13 and up), monthly meetings of the TAG (Teen’s Advisory Group), as well as the annual
Scrabble Playoff and the annual
Summer Reading
Program. Check the calendar
to see what we have planned.
