SPACE NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Shape the Future of Thayer Public Library

After celebrating 150 years in the community, Thayer Public Library is excited to look toward the future once again! To ensure we continue to meet the evolving needs of our community, we are partnering with Aaron Cohen Associates for a comprehensive space needs assessment.

Aaron Cohen Associates employs a forward-thinking method known as “appreciative inquiry.” This approach leverages community input to identify which library spaces and services are working well and builds on those strengths to create a sustainable plan for improvement. In the ever-changing landscape of library services, adaptation is key.

How You Can Help

We are seeking volunteers to support this library space planning process by completing a brief survey. Your feedback will play a vital role in shaping the future of our library. To respond to the survey, please use this link: Thayer Public Library Survey.

Get More Involved: Join a Focus Group

If you’re interested in a deeper level of involvement, you may consider joining one of our focus groups. Selected participants will tour the library with a consultant from Aaron Cohen Associates and engage in a dialogue about what works and what doesn’t. Your commitment will involve attending one or two focus group meetings at the library (each lasting no more than two hours) at the beginning of the planning process and potentially another two-hour meeting towards the end.

Your Voice Matters

Your insights and experiences are invaluable to us. By participating in this process, you will play a key role in ensuring that Thayer Public Library remains a vital and vibrant resource for everyone in our community. Thank you for your support!

If you have any questions, please contact Assistant Director Laurie Cavanaugh at lcavanaugh@braintreema.gov, or 781-848-0405, x 4418.

Together, let’s shape the future of Thayer Public Library!

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER STORYTIME

We welcome your interest in offering a storytime at Thayer Public Library as a community volunteer. We appreciate your commitment of time and energy to the library community, and look forward to increasing the number of multicultural, bilingual, and local-author storytimes we are able to offer.

Due to the number of requests we receive, we have established a Community Volunteer Storytime program on a trial basis, which will be scheduled either monthly or bi-monthly, based on community response. Community Volunteer Storytime will consist of an adult and/or teenager aged 16+ reading or telling stories that are appropriate to the age of children attending.
If your request is approved, and a date and time suitable to all parties is determined, the library will provide the following: 1) Set-up of the storytime corner; 2) Inclusion of your Community Volunteer Storytime on the library’s event calendar; 3) A themed, age-appropriate craft or — if you would like to provide the themed, age-appropriate craft yourself — the set-up of a space to offer the craft.

Community Volunteers will not be paid, and no items may be offered or promoted for purchase before, during, or after the program.  The library is not able to guarantee an audience for the program. Community volunteers are asked to let friends and family know about the program and encourage them to attend.

Completing this form is your acknowledgement that:

  • your program will be provided as a volunteer (no payment);
  • nothing will be offered for sale and no admission will be charged;
  • your program will be a storytime and/or craft that is age-appropriate;
  • your program complies with the Library’s User Conduct Policy.
